We have bunches of wild daylilies growing around our place and their leaves (are these leaves?) are quite good at collecting water droplets. I’m out of practice taking pictures so figured this would be an easy way back in. Not as easy as I thought.

I went over to a friend’s house to help her with her network and she told me her peonies were in full bloom. I took pictures of the peonies but her hostas had great water droplets on them and I shot them too.

It’s raining hard today and I have errands in town. While running to the truck I noticed a birch leaf, bottom side up with water droplets on it on the driveway. On a nice day, I might feel the urge to set up the tripod right over this leaf and attempt a water droplet shot. Today the rain is coming down hard enough so I continued running to the truck and thought I’d probably drive over it. After I came back I was able to find it again and it was untouched. Rather than bring the tripod to it in the rain, I brought it into the house, being careful not to knock its droplets off, got it up to my office and took this shot.

My current favorite photographer on flickr is rosemary who lives in Japan, shoots with a Digital Rebel and, for most of the macros in her collection with a Tamron 90mm F2.8 lens. She is without a doubt a master of soft focus composition and bokeh.
